Costs
The cost of a routine women's health exam is $20. Students may be referred to an off-campus health provider for some diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound, and charges will be the student's responsibility.
Recommended testing
Testing for chlamydia is strongly recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) for all sexually active women age 24 and younger. No exam is needed if the only service requested is chlamydia & gonorrhea screening. There is a lab fee for the test which will be charged to the student.
The USPSTF also strongly recommends HIV screening for adolescents and adults aged 15 to 65, regardless of sexual activity. Health Services offers HIV testing. Charges for HIV testing are billed directly to the patient.
Further testing for sexually transmitted infections is recommended based upon risk factors such as number of sexual partners, recent change in sexual partner and high risk sexual behaviors. The nurse practitioner can make recommendations for further testing based on a confidential interview.
